Paul Anthony has had a passion for music since
he was five years old. On that particular
birthday his parents gave him a fifty dollar
“John Denver” guitar and signed him up for a
month’s worth of lessons. To the surprise of
many, he to coin an old phrase took the ball and
ran and has been doing so ever since. While most
kids his age had no idea what they wanted to do
later in life, Paul had found his passion and
his dream to play music.
At the age of 12, Paul started living that
dream by forming his first band and by the age
of 16 was making fairly decent money at it. At
that time, the band Real Steel invited him to
join their group and, within a few months of
this, they landed a recording contract with
Cleveland-based Auburn Records. During the
ensuing six years, Paul wrote, recorded and
toured with the band. Playing to sell-out crowds
Real Steel eventually found their way to be the
opening act for the likes of Rick Derringer,
Blackfoot, The Bullet Boys and Savatage to name
but a few.
In 1995, Paul made the decision to form his
own group, The Paul Anthony Band. While they
started playing in the North East, the band was
hearing stories about a very thriving music
scene elsewhere and the members and their
families relocated to Tampa, FL. Since that
move, The Paul Anthony Band has been performing
throughout the state, has created a wide fan
base and also released a self-titled album.
Their second album is due out in early 2002.
Paul’s extensive music background is evident in
every note he plays and in each bead of sweat
that rolls down from his head as he performs.
